Ultrasound San Jose: Advanced Diagnostic Techniques

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a therapeutic modality that uses high-frequency sound waves to stimulate tissue beneath the skin’s surface in order to promote healing.

How Is It Administered?

Ultrasound is applied using a round-headed wand or probe that is placed in direct contact with your skin. Initially, you’ll feel the coolness of the gel used to enhance sound conduction. Then, the sound waves create a gentle heat that can help relax muscles and reduce discomfort.

When high-frequency sound waves are directed to the soft tissues and joints, the elevation in temperature increases blood flow to the region, relaxes muscle spasms, boosts metabolism and promotes your body’s healing response.
